Teaching Responsibilities

Diagnostic Imaging (PT 323/328)

Clinical Interests
Orthopaedic certified specialist. Musculoskeletal injuries and impairment of spine and extremities, rheumatic conditions, integrative approach to patient care. Clinical academic practice in specialized area related to Duke pain management initiative.

Research Interests
Currently working in collaboration with Dr. Larry B. Goldstein (Associate Professor, Division of Neurology, Director, Cerebrovascular Disability Center, Head Stroke Policy Program) to study the effects of amphetamines and physical therapy interventions, entitled "Cerebrovascular Disease Stroke Recovery: Delayed Treatment with Amphetamine and Physical Therapy" (3-year NIH ROI grant with renewal opportunities.)

Collaborating with Dr. Ted Worrell, PT, ATC, SCS, FASCM on the implementation of scannable form technology for patient-reported questionnaires and clinician-obtained data. Forms will be utilized to establish evidence-based practice in the Duke Hospital Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy and the Duke University Academic Practice of Physical Therapy. (Project funded by Sparrowsytems.com.)

Recently nominated for the Marion Spencer Fay National Board Award (pending 2002) for distinguished women physicians and scientists to recognize, reward and promote women into leadership roles in all of the professional services.
